By JoeL 3 years ago You SoCal people are lucky. In Silicon valley, good authentic Hong Kong style shrimp wonton is hard to find. The word wonton appears in many menus, but they most likely are the Mandarin style pork wontons. You can count all the authentic Hong Kong style wonton joints with the fingers in one hand. We are deprived!!!!

By JoeL 3 years ago I have not gone to SF for food that much ever since the 1989 earthquake that brought down a section of I-480. It was just too inconvenient to go to SF, hard to find parking, dirty sticky sidewalks etc. Besides when the Chinese communities in the South Bay grew, many Chinese restaurants popped up. Though good authentic HK style restaurants are still rare. And all the good ones have long waiting list.

By JoeL 3 years ago Yes, Joy Luck Place at Cupertino Village has decent wonton soup. However, I hate going to Cupertino Village because of insufficient parking spaces. I once missed a lunch appointment after circling for 45 minutes.

By JoeL 3 years ago The worst part was that I had to leave without lunch because there was no parking space in sight and there were many cars circling like I did. I called my friends on the phone to eat without me because I could not just abandon the car to eat lunch. So that 45min could not be called wait time.
