Yep, These Are Green Oranges

Yep, they're green oranges. In Harbin, in the fall, you can get green oranges, and then in the winter you get orange oranges. I'm not sure if they're the same thing, just ripening, or if they're actually different types of oranges. The green ones are definitely more sour, though, so maybe?

In climates that are tropical and do not have cold temperatures like the Caribbean Islands, those places will grow citrus that have green peel/skin. Heat/hot climate is required for citrus to turn "orange" and since China has a much cooler climate, their citrus are green even though the fruit is ripe and sweet. Citrus from countries like China are "gassed" with Ethylene before sold to the U.S. markets to increase their value. This is not quite so unnatural as it sounds; many fruits including bananas give off ethylene and green oranges left in a room full of bananas would turn orange.

P.S. Because of the pink-like flesh, this citrus looks like a caracara navel! :P
