The Buckhorn Exchange is the oldest restaurant in Denver, Colorado. (with alcohol license No. 1) This National Historic Landmark has been serving steaks and other exotic items since 1893. Visited by many US presidents, the Buckhorn is a must try for tourists and anyone who is looking for a unique old west experience.

Their “Big Steak” is carved tableside, ranging from one-and-a-half pounds to four pounds with price ranging from $66 to $170 (in my opinion, one pound is plenty for one guest if you want to save room and try their other signature dishes such as their buffalo, elk or quail…) It is also recommended to order the “Big Steak” in advance since additional prep time will be needed.

1983? More like 1893 I'd imagine!

Tried the Buffalo a couple of weeks ago. Was kind of disappointed cos it was much tougher that I remembered the first time I had it in the 90's.

agree, buffalo is always lean, even when cooked medium rare, they sometimes will still turn out to be on the tougher side. I usually would ask them to replace it since Buckhorn is pretty good at it.
