This might sound like a simple dish but they make it sooo tasty. I once asked the owner's wife who was working in the kitchen, what made this soup so flavorful. She politely replied, "oh it's just chicken, mushroom and daikon." Basically you can pretty much see all that when you order it. That woman's lying. I just know. I tried to make the same thing at home and it didn't even come close. The daikon gives the broth a very refreshing flavor and at the same time it soaks up the taste of the chicken. Simple as it may be but it sure is good.

By IndigoHowie 1 year ago She IS a lying Dai Ho! (haha..couldn't resist that one). But yeah, they have a secret ingredient in there that she won't reveal. Which is fine with me since it keeps me coming back.

One thing about Dai Ho is that the Soup Nazi owner is so guarded with his secret recipes that he refuses to expand. He's had many offers from people to expand to Hacienda Heights area but has turned them all down.
The fact that he only opens till 3ish pm tells u that he values his lifestyle and protecting his secret ninja formula more so than selling out.

Kinda reminds me of a kung fu film I saw. I believe it was "The Prodigal's Son" with Sammy Hung, the Apprentice, begs this Master to teach him the secret moves.
The Master refuses, not wanting others to know the technique.
The Apprentice confronts him and says:
"What happens if you die? Then your secret dies with you and it will be a great loss to this earth!"

The Master ponders and realizes his mortality for the first time and eventually decides to teach the Apprentice.

What's my point? Ok, maybe I have no point. haaa.

Fear not, The Soup Nazi does have a daughter that works there, though the Nazi and his wife always complain to me that she no longer speaks Taiwanese.
So I'm thinking, someone should offer to teach their daughter Taiwanese in exchange for some recipes...Hmmmm.
