By whytaste 1 year ago oh...Egg Tarts are known or named as one of the unhealthy traditional food in Hong Kong. Most of the restaurants use unhealthy oils and Egg tarts are high in cholestrol. Anyhow, I lick Egg Tarts a lot!! esp. the crust of the egg tart. But I prefer Egg white tarts are more healthy. ^^

I seldom see Egg white tarts but my mom bought some to me at Capital Seafood (金都凱旋皇宮)... it's the one on Garvey Ave. & Atlantic Blvd. in Monterey Park inside of the 99 Ranch Mkt plaza. Egg Tarts are more tasty...but Egg white tarts aren't bad...^^

By Serindib 1 year ago Yeah I know the pastry is not very healthy. It's the lard or pork fat that makes it this way. But just like beef fat makes the best French fry oil, Pork fat or lard is the best for pastry. Hey this recipe has been around for hundreds of years, it's perfection why change it.
