I don't get what the whole fuss is about this place. The chicken was nice and crispy but way too salty. And the garlic sauce that everyone raves about was thick and gloopy, then microwaved it was oily, but taste-wise wasn't even as good as Papa John's garlic butter. I was expecting something really spectacular.

Me too so that's why I was expecting it to be rave-worthy. It was good, just not great.

I haven't had the whole chicken but the shawarma and tarna were quite good.

Yeah, I was thinking of getting those, but price-wise, the whole chicken was just a few bucks more and there were three of us. If it were just me, I'd just get the sandwich.

The garlic sauce is what people go to Zankou for. The garlic sauce is suppose to be thick...and never microwaved (hence the liquefied sauce) . The sauce should be stored at cool temperatures also...I usually eat the chicken with pita bread and spread the garlic sauce in between the meat and bread. I think the garlic sauce is more like a spread. try it again.

I love this chicken, and definitely for the garlic sauce. I don't think the garlic sauce would be good microwaved, or this chicken good as leftover, for that matter. But fresh, it is awesome. The sauce is nothing like Papa John's garlic oil. It is fresh, white and creamy, like sour cream or mayonnaise. . I always ask for an extra garlic sauce as that is what makes the meal.

Oh, and it should be noted that they take cash only. No credit cards, although they have an ATM inside the restaurant.
