I wasn't too impressed with the food here (though the service was very genteel and friendly). I prefer Four Seasons in Altadena (their scone is fresh out of the oven and not the ordinary biscuity kind). Anyone else have any good tea places to suggest? And yes, wanderingchopsx, it *is* pricey here. Usually runs about $25 for a few finger sandwiches, a few pastries and tea, but it certainly fills you up (probably b/c it's served at such a leisurely pace!). :-D

I heard about the Four Seasons too but hvn't got the chance to try it yet. Another place will be the Rose Tea room in Huntington Library, I will go try it in Sept.

I haven't been to the Huntington Library for tea since high school--back then, admission was free, and the buffet high tea was $16. OK, I'm dating myself...but it's gotten so insanely expensive (admission is $15 on top of the $20 for tea) that I'd rather go to two other places and have tea for the same price. :-) Yeah, it's in a pretty-ish garden setting, but still...I don't remember the tea being super good, either...it's just buffet-style.

Maybe we should get together a group to hit up the Four Seasons?
