This is the best chili i've ever had! This is a mom and pop shop with its origins in Wisconsin. This place has been in Burbank since the early 1900's. This is a bowl of spaghetti, hot chili, chili oil, cheese, onion and oyster crackers. Chili John has the original patent on the oyster cracker and its older then that of CocaCola! There are a variety of chili dishes you can get like the chili bowl with spaghetti, chili bowl with spaghetti and beans, chili dogs, chili tamales, chili joes (like sloppy joes) and you get to choose the level of spicyness: mild, medium and hot. There are two types of pies, lemon and pineapple. The pie is great too, it taste like cheese cake and when you savor the flavor you get a nice kick of lemon flavor. This is a must go for chili lovers!

This is my manager, he's the one that told me about this place. He is the funniest guy and the best manager i've ever had. This is a small clip, he's more funny then this but we were at work and he kept on getting interrupted.

Yes, I know... you can't compare that with the one from Chilli John's. However, I do like chilli! I would definitely try Chili John's if I ever do go to Burbank.

Next time I'm near Burbank, I'm going to make it a point to try this place out (and to get some cheese rolls at portos).

The chilli dishes look wild, kinda like filipino food where everything is all mishmashed. Or something out of a experiment from a college students kitchen.

you can eat it anyway you like, i actually added black pepper to my bowl too. but there is that spice you put on seasoned fries, vinegar, sour cream and you can add what looks like kidney beans too. it may sound wierd but the beans weren't that bad as i had them on my chili dog

i grew up in burbank and loved eating at chili johns.used to have a beer or two with the owner, mickey at the pool room and m&e tap on magnolia.tried to get some chili secrets out of him but he would only tell me he cooked it a long time.he sold the business to a friend of mine who i went to school with, ron volpe.mickey asked him to not change things and ron has kept things mostly original.its important to be able to go home again.its chili in its purest form.

The Chili John's in Burbank was opened in 1946 by the son of the original Chili John's, in Green Bay, WI. The original restaraunt opened in GB in 1919. It opened at the foot of the Main St bridge, later moved to Cherry St across from the Northland Hotel (that's where a lot of old NFL players learned about it because the Northland was were visiting teams stayed). Today it is on the far west side of town and the chili is just as good today as it was when I had my first bowl at the Cherry St location 38 years ago.
