By fishybear10 2 years ago red velvet is suppose to be chocolate cake dyed red...hence the chocolate-like flavor with the red dye color and always topped with some kind of cream cheese frosting. I've tried a couple places and I have to say that sprinkles is pretty good with the how they make their red velvet cake but the price is pretty high at 3.25/a cupcake.

By SparklerSpades 10 months ago actually let me correct myself, most red velvets have red dye to enhance the color, but it's called red due to a chemical reaction that gives it a pinkish/red tint naturally
