yes, the purple is the Okinawan sweet potato. I think they must sell them at supermarkets outside Hawaii (?), although I don't know if they are any good.
i think they just add poi (basically mashed up taro) to the dough. They usually do it with very soft breads (like Hawaiian/Portuguese sweetbread) and it makes the resulting product purple. Yummy!
actually, tarsiers are only found in southeast asia (eg philippines, malaysia). lemurs are actually the ones only found in madagascar. aye-ayes are found in west africa as well. in some cultures, if an aye-aye is found in a village, the entire village must be burned down and moved to a different location. i highly recommend tht everyone look up pictures of aye-ayes on google. they are the spitting image of my idea of diabolical.
yeah, I don't think it's that well-known because it's a bit outside of town (Honolulu), but the food is amazing and not too expensive. My kind of restaurant.
